GROUND GUIDE CHELTENHAM – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

GROUND GUIDE CHELTENHAM

The impressively named Jonny-Rocks Stadium (GL52 5NA) that has a 7,066 capacity with just over half of that seated including the away end. It’s a journey of anything between 66 and 83 miles depending on which route you take, and there are several. Personally, I take the A421 through Stow on the Wold, its mainly country roads but in honesty there is no easy way to get there, but it makes a nice change from endless miles on the motorway.

We will be in the Hazelwood’s Stand behind the goal which holds about 1,100 fans and it would be great if we can get anywhere near that, it’s close to the action and offers great views and with a low roof some great noise can be generated. The usual football ground nosebag will be on offer and its competitively priced with other grounds and includes pies that are made on site.

There is a chippy 2 minutes’ walk from the ground, an alternative could be the Robins Nest Bar at the ground which does allow away fans and serves hot food, admittance to the bar will cost you £1.

Several pubs are recommended in the FGG most notably the Kemble Brewery Inn on Fairview Street, its listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and boasts up to six real ales, or you could also try the Sudeley Arms, or the Conservatory on Prestbury Road near the Town Centre and they are about a ten-minute walk.

If the railways is your chosen mode of transport be aware that Cheltenham Railway Station is a good two mile walk to the ground, although a regular bus service on match days is in operation.

Parking at the ground is £5 and its very limited, but there are a few local parking schemes for about £4 nearby, failing that street parking, but the spaces get filled very early by locals.
