We are starting to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with these now and finally getting down the pile of responses, but we still are waiting for a few to get back to us including two or three from overseas fans. We have also received some great comments from people who have read past editions on this feature, and there have been some really interesting articles from you the fans so many thanks. We also had some great feedback on the Russell Martin Interview that appears to have gone down well, and we are currently trying to sort something similar out with a few people we have in mind, so watch this space.
Today we have 34-year-old Peter Gott who is pictured below with his young son, Peter has followed the Dons home and away for many years, so many thanks to him for telling us his story. Enjoy the read.
ell us a little bit about how you became a Dons fan and what was your first game?
First game was MK Dons 1-1 Barnsley in August 2004. I’d spoken to a few people who had been to the Wimbledon games at the NHS after the move and decided to give it a go on the first day of the 04/05 season and have been hooked ever since.
What were your expectations for us pre-season, and have you changed your mind on what you have seen so far?
Expectations were mid table with no real threat to either the play offs or relegation. To be fair my expectations haven’t changed much, we’re way too good to go down but lacking the consistency at the moment to make a push.
Which Dons player, or players have really impressed you so far this season?
No one can ignore the quality of Scott Fraser. It just looks so easy to him. Think Lewington has adapted well into position he doesn’t really like playing, or so he said.
Best and worst performances so far this season?
Best performances would have to be Swindon away or Charlton away, the worst was Crewe away, that was dreadful.
What is your favourite Dons moment or moments?
Depends on if you mean moment or game. Promotion is obviously a great feeling. Stockport away in 07/08 was amazing for all that were there, especially against a club who didn’t really like us. In terms of my favourite game, it’s a strange one really, Lincoln at home in 06/07 at the NHS. It was live on Sky, it was cold, think it had snowed the day before. Game finished 2-2 but had everything, leading to trailing, 3 penalties, 2 missed by the Dons (including one in the 90th minute), a red card and a 95th minute equaliser.
Who is your all-time favourite player and why?
I like a battling midfielder type. Was always a fan of Mitchell, Navarro, Potter and Peter Leven, but I’ll have to say Stephen Gleeson.
Who is the best striker to have ever pulled the Dons shirt on, and why?
We’ve had some good strikers, notably loan strikers. I’m gonna stick my neck out and say Sam Baldock though, he was the Rhys Healey of 10 years ago.
Who is a good tip for promotion and relegation in League 1?
I think Burton and Wigan are down, think Swindon and Bristol Rovers will join them. Promotion wise, Posh are as good as any team in the league on their day, get a run going and I think they’ll go up, Doncaster look an outside shout, maybe Oxford for playoffs now Karl has them ticking again.
Fisher or Nicholls?
Fisher hasn’t had enough games yet to convince me he’s number 1. Nicholls is an amazing shot stopper but his decision making requires improvement.
Home games, or away games?
Away games are better, I just don’t get to go to as many now with a young family.
All fans love a good awayday, are there any grounds you look forward to visiting again, or perhaps one on your bucket list?
I’ve always enjoyed Sincil Bank and Bramall Lane usually because we’ve got results there, bit like Meadow Lane. I’d like to get to Villa Park or St. James’ Park (Newcastle).
Where do you think MK Dons will finish up this season?
14th

White Shirt.
Your preferred matchday grub?
Double quarter pounder from a Burger van. Oxford’s one is amazing.

Just everyone to keep safe and well during the current climate and hope we can all return to Stadium MK when it is safe to do so.
