Accessibility Guide to Sheffield Wednesday

By Jo and Jeff Newall, Disability Officers MKDSA

Wednesday Accessibility Provisions

Car Parking for Disabled Fans

Very limited number of spaces available, bookable on a first come first served basis, by phoning Wednesday’s ticket office on 03700 201867.    £5, to be paid at time of booking.

Accessible Official Travel

This will include an accessible minibus, costing the same as the away coaches, bookable at the MK Dons Box Office.   Drops off and picks up at the away end.

Provisions for Ambulant Disabled Fans

Away fans are in the upper tier of the West Stand at the Leppings Lane end which is accessed via steep steps with no lift.   If you require easy access seating/accessible toilets, ask our Box Office for tickets in the Lower West Stand.   If you already have tickets for the Upper West Stand, ask our Box Office to swop them for you.   Those in the upper tier have no access to the lower tier and vice versa.

Provisions in the Lower West Stand

Entry to the stand is the far right corner of the away end.   Accessible toilet cubicles are within a large, heated comfort room with seats.    There is also a tea bar just for the use of those in the Lower West Stand.

Away Wheelchair Users Spaces

9 bays available for away wheelchair/scooter users in the Lower West Stand.   Tickets available from the Dons Box Office.  The wheelchair bays front to back are massive with the companion seats at the back.   Well under cover if it is raining!  The odd bit is that there are 27 bays in the away end for home wheelchair fans!     You have to go past the home fans to get to the bays for the away wheelchair fans, even though you are at the away end!   That said, we have visited on a number of occasions and never had any difficulties with this arrangement.

Match Headset Commentary

Available from the stewards on a first come, first served basis.

Hillsborough Memorial

Not far from the away end and has wheelchair access.
