MK Dons’ search for their first league point continues after a disappointing result at Portman Road. Goals from Burns, Harness & Chaplin seal the Dons fate.
1’ Oyegoke slips in possession which allows Ladapo to run through down the left, but his shot is saved comfortably by Cumming.
5’ – 1-0 – Ipswich take the lead after some good work down the right-hand side from Donacien who chinks back to Wes Burns who hits a sumptuous shot into the far corner.
9’ – The Dons look to respond with a freekick as Matt Smith’s set piece juggles around the area before the ball falls to Conor Grant whose powerful strike is superbly tipped over the top by Walton.
12’ – Good build up play again for the Dons as Grant and Barry break down the Ipswich defence before Matt Dennis’ headed attempt is just over the top.
13’ – A long ball for Ladapo to chase but he goes to pull the trigger but for a lunging block from O’Hora to put behind for a corner.
20’ – Short corner taken by the hosts and Sam Morsy tried his luck from 25 yards, but his effort whistles past the upright.
27’ – 2-0 – A loose pass by Johnson initiates an Ipswich break away through the middle which sees the ball eventually fall to Marcus Harness after Cumming denied a long-range effort, Harness’ effort is blocked but the ball trickles past 2 challenges and the already committed Cumming to slowly roll into the back of the net.
34’ – Sam Morsy tries his luck from distance again, but this time Cumming is forced to tip over the top.
35’ – Matt Dennis chases a lost cause and manages to nick the ball off Edmundson as he runs through, he cuts back to Barry who prods forward to Grant but the linesman adjudged them to be offside.
38’ – Ipswich break down the right and as Burns’ delivery goes over the top of everyone, Morsy finds himself space to pull the trigger, but Cumming was equal to it.
49’ – Ipswich have the first chance of the second half as Ladapo is played through but his prodded attempt at goal goes just wide.
60’ 3-0 – Connor Chaplin makes it 3 after some excellent play down the right.
77’ O’Hora denied by Walton after heading an effort towards goal.
79’ – Aluko nips in and drives down the left, he cuts back and pulls the trigger, but Jamie Cumming saves comfortably.
MK Dons were well off it today and could easily have conceded more if it wasn’t for Jamie Cumming. The result at Portman Road sees the Dons rooted to the bottom of the table after 3 games and still haven’t registered a goal in the league, let alone a point. Their next test is just over 72 hours away when they welcome Port Vale to Stadium MK on Tuesday night.
