GROUND GUIDE MORECAMBE – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

GROUND GUIDE MORECAMBE

A 400-mile round trip from Stadium MK it’s the Globe Arena (LA4 4TB) with a ground capacity of 6,476, of which 2,173 can be seated.

We should be in the Bay Radio Terrace at one end of the ground which is thankfully covered and affords good views of the playing surface and holds about 1,400 supporters, so we should have plenty of space to stretch out, in addition there is seating available in the Peter McGuigan Stand.

Although the stadium is a re-build of the old Christie Park Stadium and was opened in 2010 the facilities aren’t that great mainly because of the lack of space behind the stands. One highlight though is the famous Morecambe pies, not cheap at £3-50 each but they have won several awards such as the Football Ground Pie of the Year, not to mention a few national pie awards.

For those wanting a pre-match pint there is the Thurley Flyer PH right outside the stadium entrance, its away friendly and you can also park there at £10 per vehicle, but this will be refunded if making a food purchase. You could also try the Regent Leisure Holiday Park which is a few minutes’ walk along Westgate, it boasts SKY TV with decent food and beer and has a good pre-match atmosphere, but with an attendance of possibly just over 1,000 I wouldn’t count on it.

You can also park at the Regent at a cost of £3 per vehicle.

If none of those interest, being a seaside town there are plenty of watering holes to be found on the seafront such as Davey Jones Locker at the Clarendon Hotel or the Station Promenade PH.

Parking at the stadium is for permit holders only so it’s a case of finding street parking I’m afraid.

If making the journey by train be warned it’s a walk of 30 minutes to get to the Globe Arena or you can hop on the Number 6 or 6A bus which drop off outside the stadium and takes about 10 minutes.
