It’s the long haul up to Sheffield on Tuesday night and I’m sure Dons fans won’t want the night to be dominated by a referee determined to be the centre of attention like Alan Young in our game versus Stevenage Borough in the FA Cup Replay at the Lamex Stadium.
Bobby Madley our referee for this game is also no stranger to controversy.
Madley who is still registered as a resident of Oslo, although it’s more likely he is back living in the place of his birth Wakefield was a former full time Premiership referee until a video surfaced of him mocking a disabled person and he was dismissed from the ranks of PGMOL refs in 2019.
Following his dismissal, he relocated to Norway and officiated lower league matches, but a subsequent hearing with the EFL and it was agreed he would officiate at grass roots level before returning to EFL football for the 2020/21 season.
So far this season he has overseen 15 games booking 48 players, no yellow/red offences, and just 2 straight red cards, in addition he has awarded 3 penalties.
We last saw Madley back in April of last season at Sincil Bank, Lincoln, where we got a right good hiding 4-0, so perhaps it’s best not to dwell on it much longer.
Assisting Madley will be Wayne Grunnill and Daniel Woodward on the flags, with Bradley Hall as the 4th Official.
