Back to League 1 action at Stadium MK on Saturday and the visit of 13th placed Burton Albion next on the agenda.
The man in the middle for this game is Neil Hair from Cambridgeshire, our second consecutive Fenland referee following Ref Alan Young covering our FA Cup replay with Stevenage Borough on Tuesday night, and we can only hope that he doesn’t comes close to the performance we had to suffer in that game, I don’t think I will ever forget that.
Mr Hair has taken control of 13 games so far this season handing out 34 yellow cards on the way, but until now, he has not issued a red card, but he can boast an above average in awarding penalties, pointing at the spot on 6 occasions already which is almost his entire tally from the season before.
The last time we saw Ref Hair at SMK was back in October 2020 when we beat Gillingham 2-0. At the time we were stone bonk last in the League table with the Gills in 4th. Cameron Jerome scored his 1st goal in the EFL since 2018 in the 19th minute after being set up by Regan Poole. The winning goal came straight after half time with people still making their way back from the concessions and bars, Louis Thompson playing a neat one two with Carlton Morris, the latter then poking it past the Gills keeper for his 1st goal of the season.
The result lifted the Dons off the bottom spot and into 19th, the Steve Evans led side dropping down to 8th. Only six games in, but for the record Ipswich were sitting top and Oxford were the new guardians of the bottom spot.
Ref Hair will be assisted by Scott Williams and Michael Webb on the flags, with Joseph Stokes attending to the 4th Official duties.
