I think in this fixture more than anything you hope you get a referee that does not get caught up in the emotion of the moment. Although I do feel that the significance of this fixture for a growing number of refs and indeed fans gets less and less the more times, we meet in a competitive game
I do wonder what this fixture means to the players of both sides, obviously they will be aware of the history, and probably what it means to the fans, but possibly little else and they probably approach this fixture as they would any other.
The man in the middle is Chris Sarginson who is probably only memorable for his surname and little else, I cant think we have any form with him, but I said that about Charlie Breakspear for Tuesdays game, and there is still something niggling me about him that I feel I should be able to recall.
Anyway, Sarginson last reffed us on Feb 9th, 2019 against Swindon Town where we lost 3-2 at the County Ground in a League 2 fixture that saw us drop outside the automatic promotion places, Hesketh and Agard soring for the Dons. Mr Sarginson averages 3.7 yellow cards per game and sent someone off in his last game, Scunthorpe v Cambridge United, but that does seem to be a bit of a rarity as he has only shown the red card 7 times in his last 60 games. Mr Sarginson is assisted by Thomas Harty and Michael Begley on the flags, with Peter Wright as 4th Official.
