Crazy 120 Seconds Sees Dons Drop Two Points

Dean double delights Dons and added time woes bursts the ballon of happiness.

Ahhh, it was true life 2023 vintage Dons was this one. We managed to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory as yet another match win eludes us.

The words pre-match were of understanding the viewpoint of supporters and being clear what we needed to do, and yet, at 92 minutes and being 2-0 up, it looked like a rotten run was over.

Then, the defending self-destruct button was well and truly whacked.

It’s a bit tough to lay that one at the Head Coaches door, but ultimately, he carries the can.

Leko, Eisa and O’Hora dropped, Harvie suspended, and Smith brought back early from international duty. It was a much changed side from Gillingham. Dean, Robson and the returning Smith made it into the starting eleven.

We didn’t dominate possession or have the most shots, shots on target or even corners, we were out passed for quite a bit, but we were winning. Noise from block 11 was good and it looked like the light at the end of the tunnel was closer than it has been lately.

I honestly don’t see what Alexander can do about the added time unravelling, like it did. It’s on the players that one, but there you go.

Six points from relegation and six from the play-offs. Sacking Alexander right now doesn’t make much sense in that metric, BUT it certainly has added to the pressure, and the voices calling for change are getting louder.

Accrington away and the Bradford at home on Tuesday 24th October would take us to a third of the way through the season.

We need to be closing the gap looking up the table, not looking down, or we could have a new manager before much of November is over.

On to the tricky tie in Accrington next Saturday. The Official Supporters Coach still has some seats available if you’re up for it. See you there.
