A new season finds Groundhopper on their travels for the first game. A trip to Sunny Wales and a first visit in fifteen years to the STok Cae Ras. Lets see what their thoughts are on the day out.
|First Impressions of the stadium, parking, ease of entry.
|Arrival at STok Cae Ras was quite easy. Although getting dropped in the access road of a busy car park was a little surprising. The gateman seemed caught out by four buses. After advising everyone to get there early they weren’t exactly set up and the turnstiles opened a little later than advertised.
|Food & Drink, range, quality, price.
|The kiosk wasn’t open when the turnstiles opened. Everything was hot, very hot. But just one tiny kiosk for a sold out away end meant horrendus waits to get served. The pies were tasty and reasonably priced to be fair.
|View from your seat, any poles in the way, obstructed view, seat broken?
|From the upper section there was a post in the way, other than that, it was a standard plastic seat. Presume that stand will get a tidy up in the years to come.
|Home team support, was it a library, good banter between the fans?
|To be honest it wasnt as good as expected. They made noise granted, and there was a little banter from a small group in the section to our right. They had a drum. Wouldn’t let us bring ours mind. They went very quite a few times.
|What were the stewards like, helpful and friendly or jobsworths?
|All good, humour was shared and there was no report of anything heavy handed. Had little to do between our and their fans to our left. Low profile does work.
|Toilet facilities, clean and well equipped with hot water, disgusting.
|Clean and tidy but lacked hot water and soap with one very weak hand-dryer and for a sell out there were queue as it was a tad compact.
|Ticket pricing, did the price reflect the facilities of the ground?
|Adult ticket was £24 and yes, it seemed fair. They’ll be a few that charge more and offer less, with a few tweaks the scores could be higher in some other areas.
|Ground facilities, half time service, did they let fans outside at halftime?
|Less than a mile from the centre of town and its crumbling down, no-one invested so much as a penny …over to you Deadpool and Rob McElhenney …a bit of modernising of our view wouldnt go amiss. The Kop is finally getting rebuilt.
|Match atmosphere, did the Dons fans give good support?
|We witnessed the best ninety minutes in almost a year. The 1115 away fans were magnificent, we traded songs and sang alone all game long. Attendance was 10,205.
|Ease of exit, did the carpark clear quickly, traffic around the stadium?
|The buses were parked nice and close but as there was only one road out exit was harder than it needed to be, no priority given to them.
|Any other observations or comments that may have affected your scoring?
