With a large number of players out of contract very soon, new head coach Graham Alexander needs to move fast if he wants to retain any players he believes are worth keeping.
Alexander has a vision of the side he wants and how it wants to play. That’s the easy bit. Fitting players into the positions to make it happen is where he earns his living.
He has a core of players contracted for next season. The unknown factor here would be if any of them are on the radar of other clubs.
It’s a massive game of player chess at this time of the year. The hope we all have is the status and respect Alexander has in the game, coupled with the financial backing suggested that would be there will be a decent draw for the players we want.
The quiet time is also the busy time and we really need to do some good business. Time to hold our nerve and have faith in the new man.
