Most Dons fans will know by now that the retained list has been released. This gives an indication as to what needs to be done in the transfer window as Dons look to bounce back from a miserable relegation season.
Below we have taken a look at the squad depth as it stands right now, with numbers perilously low in multiple positions. This is shown in two formations: The 5-2-3 as commonly used by Mark Jackson and Liam Manning for the season just gone and the 4-2-3-1 formation that’s commonly used by ball playing teams and is the preferred shape of former Dons boss Karl Robinson.
In 4-2-3-1 formation
GK Ronnie Sandford
RB RCB Warren O’Hora, Jack Tucker LCB Dean Lewington, Zak Jules LB Daniel Harvie
CM Dawson Devoy, Matt Smith CM Ethan Robson
RM Jonathan Leko, Darragh Burns CAM Conor Grant, Dan Kemp LM Nathan Holland, Brooklyn Ilunga
ST Mo Eisa, Will Grigg, Max Dean, Matt Dennis
In 5-2-3 formation

Please note that the remainder of the squad aren’t currently included as their deals are due to expire in June. It is entirely possible that when the new manager comes in he may decide to give some of these players new contracts, but as of right now, they would not be MK Dons players next season.
