RIP Motty

By The MKDSA Media Team

Today we heard the awful news that the much loved football commentator John Motson has passed.

For those of an older disposition John was the soundtrack to many a football occasion. Be it Division One from the Baesball Ground, Highbury or The Dell. Ronnie’s Rocket for Hereford in 1972, Platini’s goal for France in ’84, Dave Beasant’s penalty save or Lawrie Sanchez’s goal at Wembley in ’88, Gazza’s tears in Italia ’90 or 6 years later his goal against Scotland in the Euros at Wembley.

We loved it all.

Motty was a local, he lived just outside Milton Keynes in the last few years and he was seen from time to time. Many of us were lucky to hear his tales both at the Hockey Stadium and StadiumMK and we even got to ask him questions. We were disappointed when he had to go off to talk to others.

Motty we won’t half miss you and that coat. Thank you. RIP.
