Dons Cup Treble Is Still On

By The MKDSA Media

It may be a difficult time in the League for Liam Manning’s Dons but in the various cup competitions its a completely different story at MK1.

The Dons have made good progress on three fronts for silverware this season, and its been a rather welcome distraction although very few people are around to see the wins.

The Emirates FA Cup In Round One the Dons beat Taunton Town of National League South 6-0 and then drew the tough away fixture of Portsmouth at Fratton Park in Round Two tomorrow.

The Carabao Cup The Dons beat League Two Sutton United at home 2-1 in Round One which set up an intreguing tie at Vicarage Road where the Deadly Dons dispatched The Championship Hornets 2-0 to give themselves a home tie against fellow League One side Morecambe which was won 2-0. Premiership Leicester City await The Dons in the Last 16 at Stadium MK 3 days before Christmas.

The Papa Johns Trophy The very mention of the League One and Two Cup competition will always carry the words “former winners” when brought up. This season the Dons started with a loss (Chetenham at home 1-2) but they followed it with a win at home to West Ham’s U21 with a 2-0 scoreline, the same scoreline away to Walsall in the final group game saw The Dons clinch top spot giving them a home tie against Newport County which the Dons won 3-1 this week . The Dons face a trip to Bristol Rovers mid December in the last 16.

So as it stands we’re still in three cups far later into a season than we’ve probably ever been or for ages at least so enjoy it while it lasts.
