Barnsley The MKDSA Ground Guide To Oakwell

By The MKDSA Media Team

Our first trip to Oakwell for a while. Heres our guide to visiting South Yorkshire along with a link to Barnsley’s FC official visitors guide.

Opened in 1888, Oakwell Stadium (S71 1ET) and has a ground capacity of 23,287, all seated, and is a trip from Stadium MK of approximately 130 miles, with the vast majority via the M1.

Away fans are housed in the North Stand, at one end of the ground. This good-sized covered stand is mostly free of supporting pillars, meaning you normally get a very good view of the playing action.

Being an old ground, there are plenty of pubs a short walk away.

There are a couple of car parks located at the ground, but they are mainly for permit holders only. In between the ground and the MetroDome is a car park for visiting supporters, called Queens Ground.

Barnsley Railway Station is about a ten-minute walk away from Oakwell. This station is served by trains running between Sheffield and Leeds.
