First Impressions of the stadium, parking, ease of entry.8Another Tuesday night at The Valley. The ground, which has a capacity of just over 27,000, is in a built up area with restrictions on parking & the congestion charge to consider and so travel for most was either by train or coach. The railway station is a short distance from the ground.
Coaches usually park away from the ground and passengers have to walk to the Valley which takes about ten minutes. Mechanical issues delayed our departure from SMK which saw us caught in the rush hour traffic. Due to our late arrival the coach driver took us straight to the ground where we were allowed to disembark near the away entrance. Away fans are allocated the South Stand which is located behind a goal.
Food & Drink, range, quality, price.8The kiosk still serves Piglets Pantry pies & sausage rolls, once a favourite at Stadium MK, hot & cold drinks & alcohol which was all reasonably priced. The kiosk is in an open concourse area
View from your seat, any poles in the way, obstructed view, seat broken?7The view from behind the goal is slightly obstructed by the upright roof supports. Wheelchair users are located within the same stand on the central concourse and their view can be obscured if supporters in front of them choose to stand.
Home team support, was it a library, good banter between the fans?7The attendance for this fixture was 12,328. The home fans behind the opposite goal had a drum and they made more noise than our last visit.
What were the stewards like, helpful and friendly or jobsworths?7The stewards at The Valley are generally pleasant but their tolerance levels could be deemed below average. They are still strict about stopping fans from congregating on the concourse and stairs within the stand. You can be told to move when you’ve just stopped to say hello. I’m aware of at least one of our supporters being ejected from the ground.
Toilet facilities, clean and well equipped with hot water, disgusting.7The toilet blocks were clean and well maintained. The hand dryers worked, possibly new.
Ticket pricing, did the price reflect the facilities of the ground?8An adult ticket was £23 which is slightly cheaper than the average in League 1 and good to see no increase on last season.
Ground facilities, half time service, did they let fans outside at halftime?6The concourse area is open to the elements and quite small for a stand which can accommodate 3000 fans. The area gets very busy with only one refreshment kiosk. Fans were allowed to smoke near the turnstiles.
Match atmosphere, did the Dons fans give good support?8There were 400 Dons fans in attendance. The drum didn’t travel but our fans made plenty of noise.
Ease of exit, did the carpark clear quickly, traffic around the stadium?7The coach was waiting outside the away end and departure from the area was relatively quick.
