MATCH REPORT: Charlton Athletic 0 – MK Dons 2 – Tuesday 25th October 2022
Will Grigg’s penalty and a Bradley Johnson free-kick secured MK Dons a 2-0 victory at 10-man Charlton to end a run of five straight league defeats for The Dons.
1st Half
During the opening period, the Dons were the brighter side. Joe Wollacott was tested by Nathan Holland from the edge of the area with a 20-yard drive. His effort was parried by the keeper, and the Addicks defence were able to deal with the loose ball.
Zak Jules, again being one of the Dons standout performers, producing solid and timely tackles, which nearly saw Will Grigg through on goal midway through the first half only for the striker to be flagged for offside.
Grigg’s shot rattling off the crossbar, being the only other chance of note in the first half.

2 nd Half
Charlton grew into the game as the second half began, but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
With 66 minutes gone, Addicks defender Ryan Inniss was given a second yellow, which saw the Dons given a controversial penalty, as he brought down Louis Barry who was running through.
Grigg made no mistake from the spot as he dispatched the penalty and put the Dons in front. It was one way traffic from then on, and the Dons doubled their lead 12 minutes later.
Bradley Johnson doubled the lead with a superbly struck free-kick from 20 yards out after Dawson Devoy was fouled to wrap up a deserved win.
Charlton continued to struggle to break down the Dons well organised defence with Jes Rak-Sakyi’s long range shot their best effort on goal of the half.
