LEWINGTON’S

MKDSA STATEMENT

27 September 2022

We apologise for the delay in issuing a statement but wished to engage with the club first on the recent updates regarding Lewington’s bar.  We are now able to comment as follows.

“The MKDSA have been in discussion with the club regarding the recent concerns raised by the current layout for Lewington’s.”

“This has stemmed from compliance issues with fire safety regulations & as a result of the recent assessment, we have been advised that all furniture had to be removed to be compliant & for safety reasons.”

“Whilst we understand & fully support the club with the need to comply with these regulations & agree that the safety of all our fans must be paramount, we are disappointed that no other avenue was open to the club in the short term whilst a resolution to this could be found.”

“The MKDSA are currently engaged in discussions with our club on finding solutions that will comply with the fire safety regulations & would like to put on record our thanks to the Chairman & members of the Board & staff, for meeting with us this morning to review & look into proposals for the future of the bar.”

“We will of course keep members & fans updated on developments as we continue to work closely with the club in finding a solution that is in keeping with the spirit of our fan bar & continue to advocate on behalf of our members & fans alike, on the look & feel so many have worked hard to achieve over recent years since its set up.”

“Whilst the current situation is one, we are sure is just as frustrating for everyone, as it is for the entire committee, we are determined to make sure that these setbacks are resolved in as timely, safe, practical & as collaborative a way as possible with our club”
