A Cup game but our intrepid ground reporter” The Snoop” was still on duty and taking a close look at Championship ground Vicarage Road, the home of Watford FC.

First Impressions of the stadium, parking, ease of entry.7We arrived in Vicarage Road around 7pm where the coaches parked outside the entrance for away fans. Entry into the ground was quick.
Food & Drink, range, quality, price.6I didn’t visit the concession so can’t comment on pricing, but I didn’t hear any complaints about the quality. However, there was no alcohol on sale and consequently some fans understandably delayed their entry to the ground.
View from your seat, any poles in the way, obstructed view, seat broken?8Away fans were in one half of the Vicarage Road stand where the view was unobstructed.  It was good to see our supporters’ using wheelchairs located on a platform within the same stand.
Home team support, was it a library, good banter between the fans?6The attendance for this fixture was 8,891 with the home support spread across three stands. There was a group of home fans with a drum who did try to make Ipswich fans did make some noise. I don’t recall hearing any banter from them. Another club which doesn’t allow visiting fans to bring a drum.
What were the stewards like, helpful and friendly or jobsworths?7My main interaction with stewards was outside the ground whilst being searched when they were friendly.
Toilet facilities, clean and well equipped with hot water, disgusting.7The toilet areas were relatively well maintained. There were long queues at the ladies due to the lack of facilities.
Ticket pricing, did the price reflect the facilities of the ground?9An adult ticket was good value at £12 reflecting that this was a League Cup fixture that was unlikely to be well attended.
Ground facilities, half time service, did they let fans outside at halftime?5No half time entertainment. There is limited space on the concourse area under the stand which gets very congested. Fans weren’t allowed outside for a smoke.
Match atmosphere, did the Dons fans give good support?8Watford don’t allow away support to bring a drum although they had their own. The Dons support were excellent with the 1,759 travelling fans creating a constant noise. However, it was disappointing to hear the return of a certain chant.
Ease of exit, did the carpark clear quickly, traffic around the stadium?7Our departure away from the ground was slow and we diverted across country hindered by a holdup on the motorway.
