GROUND GUIDE BOLTON

The 28,723 all seater University of Bolton Stadium (BL6 6JW) and is a journey of 169 miles from SMK.

This impressive ground was opened in 1997 as the Reebok Stadium and is a daunting sight when coming off the M61, it has an eye-catching design and is unlike anything else in the country.

One unusual feature is that the teams make their way out of separate tunnels either side of the halfway line.

We will be sitting/standing in the two tiered South Stand, the views are great, but once again I’ve found reports of overzealous stewards, apparently they don’t like fans over celebrating goals by running beyond the front row, and fans are often ejected for standing during the game, we will see how they take to the MK Army.

The Beehive is the pub of choice for away fans and is about a 15-minute walk to the ground, but fear not booze is served at the ground, and for those a bit peckish the normal football fare is available and in addition there are eateries such as KFC, Nando’s, Burger King, Subway and Pizza Hut right next to the ground.

Parking is available at the ground for £7, and there is also parking in surrounding businesses from about £3 depending on your luck, but the average price seems to be a fiver.

Horwich Parkway Railway Station is the closest to the ground with a walk of just a few minutes.
