IN FOCUS PLYMOUTH

It was just before Christmas when we last met Plymouth Argyle in what turned out to be a very frustrating and disappointing day. At the time Argyle were on an awful run of form losing six games on the bounce, and dropping like a stone down the league table, then of course we turned up at Home Park and halted that dreadful run of results losing 1-0.

This game was scheduled a number of weeks ago in late January and got called off because of Argyles involvement in the FA Cup, which for the benefit of the tape they lost to Sheffield Utd 2-1.

For those of you that like to follow the stats it might be worth looking at the Head 2 Head that shows we have met on 5 occasions, and the last 4 have all been won 1-0.

THE STORY SO FAR – Plymouth are currently sitting in 16th place and their record stands at PLAYED 35, WON 12, DRAWN 9, LOST 14, GF 44 & GA 56, giving them 45 POINTS.

THE MANAGER – Former Dons favourite probably in some part for the song, its Ryan Thomas Lowe born in Liverpool aged 42.

As a player he kicked off his League career at Shrewsbury, with further clubs being, Chester City, Crewe, Stockport, Chester City again, Bury, Sheff Wednesday, MK Dons, Tranmere, Bury again, Crewe again, and finally back to Bury for the third time.

In total he played 703 games scoring 214 goals, for the Dons he played 51 games scoring 12 goals.

Lowe signed for us in the 2012/13 season on a two-year deal, although that contract was cancelled after 1 season, and I think I’m right in saying he commuted daily from Liverpool and that was probably the reason he left us on amicable terms.

He was at Bury before as a Caretaker, Interim, and then the full-on Boss, but has been in charge at Argyle since June 2019 guiding them to promotion in his first season. His managerial record stands at GAMES 170, WON 74, DRAWN 42, LOST 54, giving him a well above average WIN RATIO of 43%.
