IN FOCUS PETERBOROUGH – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

IN FOCUS PETERBOROUGH

Peterborough haven’t played a home fixture in the league since Saturday December 12th and stopped playing just a few days after their 1-1 draw at SMK with a Covid outbreak in their camp, missing the whole of the Christmas and New Year schedule. They only resumed playing against Lincoln City at the weekend in a 1-1 draw and on Tuesday are set to host Portsmouth in an EFL Trophy game.

As one of the few we have been able to attend this season, it was refreshing to see the Dons battle hard against a team with revenge in their hearts after being supposedly wronged following the PPG conclusion that saw Wycombe leapfrog them last season, a scenario made worse when Wanderers were promoted to the Championship via the playoffs and the playoff final.

Even the fiercest Posh supporter will have to admit they were lucky to get out of SMK with a point that day, we dominated the game from start to finish in every department and they could have had no complaints if we had taken all three points. There is no doubt they were hanging on at the end and clearly were glad to hear the final whistle.

Peterborough though appear to be a different proposition at home, only losing once and that at the hands of Blackpool who were on a bit of a run back then. They like to dominate games and there is more than a chance they will not enjoy that luxury against us, as far as I’m aware only one team as done that this season, Sunderland, and we still beat them.

We certainly have nothing to fear, since we got the monkey off our back at Sunderland and we have gone on to back that up with a win at Charlton, and of course we should not forget our noble endeavours against Burnley in the FA Cup.

Much will of course depend on injuries, isolated players, what the layoff has done to both teams, and probable new signings……all will become clear at 3pm.

2020/21 SEASON – Peterborough are currently sitting in 5th place in the league table with a record of PLAYED 19, WON 10, DRAWN 3, LOST 6, GF 30 & GA 20, giving them 32 points.

In management he has also been in charge at Preston North End and Doncaster Rovers.

He took over at Posh yet again in January 2019 with a deal until the end of the season following the dismissal of Steve Evans, but that now appears to have been extended.
