The MKDSA have approached Milton Keynes Dons Football club to discuss the reasoning behind the agreed mediation meeting with the English Football League & AFC Wimbledon.

The EFL statement released on 17th April confirmed that the EFL would mediate a meeting between MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon after the latter was charged with a breach of regulations 3.4 and 3.5. These regulations are in place to ensure football leagues clubs behave with the utmost good faith & for no club to unfairly criticise, disparage, belittle or discredit any other club. AFC Wimbledon were charged by the football league for breaching these regulations when hosting MK Dons for a league fixture on 22nd September 2017

The MKDSA has made clear to the club the concerns from supporters about the potential changing of the club’s identity with the name or club crest.

MK Dons have responded stating they recognise this is an emotive matter and were keen to emphasise that no set agenda or issues have yet been put forward by either AFC Wimbledon or the EFL. They made clear that they will only agree to resolutions considered to be in the best long-term interests of the Club, its supporters and football in general.

While charges and sanctions for AFC Wimbledon were an option, they would do nothing to ameliorate matters. The Club considered the request from the EFL to enter discussions and believes that dialogue under auspices of the EFL would be in best long-term interests of our supporters and the game.

It is clear from the MKDSA’s point of view that the club enter the mediation meeting in no way the guilty party and with the objective of ensuring the club and its supporters are treated with the respect that the EFL expects from the member clubs.

There is currently no set date for this mediation meeting. Where the mediator will allow, MKDSA have received assurances from MK Dons that they will continue to provide updates to supporters as the process progresses.
