On The Flip Side Portsmouth Part Two

They say that former Chairs of the MKDSA don’t disappear they lurk, as they simply can’t let go of the reins and remain positively obsessed with goings-on and just want everything to be as good as it can be …well Aiden just can’t stop being involved and we thank him once again for supporting our Flip Side article with his Pompey connections.

This time Aiden called on an old Pompey supporting friend and in for a penny ..here’s the thoughts of Ken Ferrett.

Tell us about your January transfer window business. Any in or out?

Two of our loan players, keeper Josh Griffiths and winger Josh Koroma returned to their clubs but got a better keeper, Matt Macey, on loan and defender Di’shon Bernard on loan from Man Utd. Also signed defender Ryley Towler and wide player Paddy Lane.

Has it been good business? Are the fans generally happy with any comings and goings?

All, except Bernard who’s only played one game, have contributed to our revival since signing so I think most fans would say it was very good business.

Your thoughts on the redevelopments at FP?

It’s great to see the old place getting some long overdue investment and attention but I am in the camp of those fans who think a similar investment should go into players to improve things on the pitch.

Are your 23/24 ST prices out, what are they like and what have the fans said about them?

23/24:ST prices haven’t been announced yet, probably waiting to see if we go up or not! Having said that, there was no price increase this season so I would expect an increase of some sort next season whatever league we’re in.

Your thoughts on your form in since we last met?

We’re unrecognisable from the team that lost to you in December, the dismal dying days of the Cowley era. John Mousinho has done a great job of reinvigorating a squad that seemed to be in terminal decline.

Can you get that 6th place to make the playoffs?

I’ve written off our chances of making the play-offs more times than I care to remember in the last couple of months but somehow we’re still in with a shout. Our last two games of the season, Derby and Wycombe, could be absolutely massive.

Overall thoughts on the season?

We started the season really well and I had genuine hope that this would be the season we finally escaped League One. We then went on a terrible run, performances were awful and we found ourselves closer to relegation than the play-offs. When it became clear that Cowley had lost the players and the fans he had to go. A lot of fans weren’t happy when Mousinho was announced as manager but he’s got the team playing and competing again. Wouldn’t rule out Pompey sneaking into the play-offs on the last day of the season to cap off a strange season.

Who will go up Auto and via Wembley?

Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley, the best team I’ve seen at Fratton Park this season. I won’t tempt fate by saying Pompey to win the play-offs, I’ll go for Ipswich

Who is going down?

Forest Green, Cambridge, Morecambe and Oxford.

Dangers players in your team to look out for on Friday?

Top goal-scorer Colby Bishop and our most creative player Michael Jacobs.

Score prediction please ..

2 -0 to Pompey but I’d be happy with a draw if we beat Morecambe on Monday.

Thank you Ken and and to “Mr Chairman” a big thank you …you’re a legend.

Cheers
