The Dons fall to defeat yet again against a strong Ipswich side.
The Dons had an early chance but Mo Eisa was unable to capitalise from Sullay KaiKai’s cross. The Winger did well to get down the right hand side before firing a low cross which unfortunately bounced up just in front of the Dons striker and landed in the hands of Walton.
Ten minutes in and the Dons should have had the lead at Stadium MK after a flurry of chances for the hosts. Mo Eisa cut in on his favoured right foot – his initial attempt was palmed right back into his path but a brave block from the defender prevented the hosts the lead. Leko was on the receiving end of the block and somehow couldn’t get the ball across the line from a yard out – a volley afterwards was saved incredibly well by Walton.
Moments after – The Tractor boys won a free-kick in a very dangerous position after the Town attacker was hauled down just outside the area. Leif Davis stepped up and saw his effort cannon off the wall and straight back into his path before having another effort head harmlessly wide.
The visitors took the lead just before the half-hour mark through a powerful strike from Ipswich midfielder Sam Morsy to send the visitor fans into pandemonium. The midfielder picked up the ball and drove towards goal before letting one fly past Jamie Cumming and into the bottom corner far beyond the keeper’s reach.
HALF-TIME: MKD 0-1 IPS
Ipswich looked to kill the game straight from the get go in the second half. Sam Morsy fired his shot in a similar fashion to his goal. Cumming met the ball but palmed it straight out to Nathan Broadhead who skied his effort from 2 yards out despite the goal gaping.
Jamie Cumming was called into action yet again with the visitors piling on the pressure as the half aged. George Hirst picked up the ball on the edge of the box and arrowed the ball towards the goal but an acrobatic Jamie Cumming tipped the ball away from goal.
The Dons had two set pieces from dangerous positions – McEachran was the player called upon to try and level the score but both of his efforts failed to trouble Walton in goal who claimed both of the efforts.
The Dons never really looked likely to get the equaliser with the quality of the visitors clearly being displayed. The Blues had a few half-chances – Kayden Jackson had an effort blocked by Zak Jules.
A third defeat in a row for the Dons against another top team. A better performance but still so much wrong. The Dons had chances to score – albeit very few.
