Returning to secure a brace of appearances we our have good friend Martin Wall, the podcast legend from 2clubs1love. The family man who resides north of the border has a close eye on his first love Shewsbury while also being a ST holder at Killmarnock. He’s a Killie Trust member and he raised £500 for Ukraine through his site. We give you The Killieshrew, again..
How has your season gone since we last played ?
Season has been very encouraging at times and are pushing top half. Had a bad Christmas which has derailed recent results. Still lack of goals is the problem.
Another transfer window is about as you play us, tell us about your business?
A young lad on loan from Palace Phillips. Highly rated but not much to comment on. Had a decent couple of games hopefully will add that bit of energy and quality in the middle to support our forward line.
Have your thoughts changed on where you think Shrewsbury Town will finish since the start of the season?
No I went with a season of progress and top 10/12. Considering the amount of ex Premier league and championship teams in this league now and how competitive it is that’s good progress on last season.
Is your style of play going to differ from how you set up at home ?
Our style of play is the same, 532 with a look to counter on break and use our strength from set piece situations. Possession based football isn’t part of out dna.
Pick a couple of Shrewsbury players should we watch out for on Tuesday?
Pennington is Mr Consistent. Reached 100 Shrewsbury appearances at Burton. A very good defender and likes to bring the ball out where possible. But also 10 goals in his 100 appearances shows his danger at the other end. Tom Bayliss will be the one in the middle our most creative player with 5 goals and 5 assists in all competitions likes to come deep and drive at the opposition. Also to note Chey Dunkley loves a late goal. All 4 goals scored this season have come after the 86th minute.
We’ve had a few changes since we played you, what do you expect from us?
We have a good record at home against you but away from home is the opposite. I expect mk to try and play from the back as usual and a more competitive game since change of leadership from reverse fixture earlier on in season.
Where do you think we will finish at the end of the season?
I think if you have a good window and get on a good run you will steer clear. If results don’t start picking up soon it could be touch and go. I fancy you to just about survive in last weekend of season. 20th
We rate each ground as an experience, there’s a league table and you are the reigning champs and looking very good to retain the title. Why do you think you won it?
I would assume our fan zone entertainment adds to the matchday experience beforehand and reasonably decent drinks always helps. Inside the ground itself it’s a decent view and close to the pitch. I still personally would have the gay meadow back everyday of the week as the atmosphere was something else as was the experience.
Now rate a trip to StadiumMK. Looks great, decent facilities would give a 8 but lacks atmosphere so downgraded to a 6. Has so much potential but doesn’t draw in the crowds.
If you could have any current Dons player, who would it be?
With nurse out for the season we have no recognised left back. Always liked the look for Daniel Harvie. A very good attacking outlet from the back and confident on the ball.
Which remaining game are you most looking forward to?
Ipswich away. My place of birth. Also made good links through my podcast with a couple of fans and will be great to test ourselves against one of best in the league. Also Vale at home always good to beat your local rivals.
Finally, what do you think the score will be?
A tough game but I fancy us stealing a point 1-1
A big thanks to Killieshrew for another great read, we really should have you on our live show sometime.
