MK Dons stun Watford in their first ever meeting at Vicarage Road as goals from Matt Dennis and Darragh Burns secure a 2-0 win and place in the 3rd round.
MATCH REPORT
12’ – MK Dons register the first shot of the game as Daniel Harvey plays in Louis Barry down the left channel. Barry chooses to try and beat Okoye at his near post, but he saves down to his right comfortably.
19’ – Will Grigg is hot on the heels of Cathcart who makes a defensive error leading to the Dons man to run through, but he manages to come back and clear the ball away before he can pull the trigger.
23’ – Devoy has an effort on goal from the edge of the box, but the ball deflects off a defender taking the sting out of the shot to dribble through to the grateful grasp of Okoye.
30’ – A defensive horror show at the back from the Dons fail to clear the ball 3 times in the area, and Bayo hits a shot close range, however Jamie Cumming throws his body in front of the shot to deny.
37’ – Watford slowly taking control of the game as they dance around the Dons defence on the box, the ball goes out wide, but Hungbo’s cross is straight at Jamie Cumming who collects comfortably.
45’ – GOAL !!! 0-1- Matt Dennis breaks away on the stroke of injury time and he sets Harvie down the left who returns the ball at the back post for his first career MK Dons goal and send the away end into delirium.
HALF TIME – WATFORD 0-1 MK DONS
50’ – Big chance for MK to double their lead when Darragh Burns cross down the right just evades Barry and Harvie at the back post.
53’ – GOAL !!! 0-2 – Darragh Burns has his chance after some great build play, and he looks to ping a shot towards the far corner but fools the keeper and hits near post to double the Dons advantage!!!
58’ – Frustrations grow from the Hornet’s as Bayo’s audacious attempt from distance is saved by Cumming.
62’ – Watford have another half chance as Minaj’s header is straight as Jamie Cumming.
73’ – Lawrence is set free down the left with acres of space, his cross is cleared up to Devoy on the edge of the box, but his first-time effort is blazed over the top.
84’ – Oyegoke wriggles his way out of the corner getting past 3 challenges before teeing up Kemp, but the keeper does well to save and hold.
