Many thanks to 19 year old Fleetwood Town fan Ben Knapman for taking time out to answer our questions in this week’s edition of Trash Talk. A fixture at Fleetwood always comes very highly on the list of places to go for any fan that loves an away day, and this will be doubly hard to miss as it is also the last away game of the season, and with that we will miss out on the usual end of season fancy dress and everything else that goes with it. Well done to Fleetwood Town for an excellent season and we look forward to making the journey up to the West Coast sometime soon, stay safe, and enjoy the summer.
We would like to point out this article was written prior to the Tuesday night fixtures .
We are now nearly at the end of the season; how do you assess how your season has gone and what are your hope’s for last few games?
For Fleetwood it’s another season in Sky Bet League One, it’s been a rollercoaster of a season with the sacking of Joey Barton and the mid-season crises and then the appointment of Simon Grayson, we’ve looked better since, so an okay season on the whole.
Where do you think your club will finish up in the league this season?
I think around 13th, with 3 games to go it’s always difficult to label where we could finish, but we are on 59 points right now and just looking to beat the 63 we got in the first season in League One.
What has been your best result this season, and of course your worst?
The best result was Plymouth at home when we won 5-1. A superb performance and everything we hit just went in, the worse was definitely MK Dons away when you beat us 3-1, a lacklustre performance!
Has your club talked about season tickets for the 2021/22 season? How are they navigating the possibility of no crowds or reduced capacity or the much hoped for return of fans?
Nothing yet on season tickets, however we are normally one of the cheapest in the League with £170 for standing, £240 for sitting for adults.
Which opposition team that you have played has impressed you the most this season?
I would say Peterborough, they weren’t pretty, but they were effective and won both games in the last minute and were just clinical in front of goal.
Which player has stood out for your team this season, and which player has come through the ranks and looks a real prospect?
James Hill has come through the ranks and has been a brick wall at the back, he has grown with confidence and now looks like he’s played 100+ games, one that will go far. Also Alex Cairns in goal, he’s been unbelievable since coming back in and has been a key to us keeping so many clean sheets.
Were you happy with the business you conducted in January transfer window? Who did you recruit and what are your initial impressions? Or was keeping certain players more key?
We recruited well in January bringing in Kyle Vassell and Dan Batty they have been key recently and added strength to the team..
Which MK Dons player stands out to you as a game changer in our clash?
Scott Frazier, he scores goals and is very dangerous!
What style of play can we expect to see from your team?
3-5-2/4-3-3…… A hard but resolute side that like to be hard to beat!
Have you ever been to Stadium MK, if so, what’s your opinion on it?
Very nice stadium, just a shame it’s not more packed out with supporters.
Where do you think the MK Dons will finish in the league table?
10th
From what you have seen, who are your tips for the league title, promotion, and relegation?
Hull are obviously up and should be Champions, Peterborough will join them, the playoffs is anyone’s guess. Northampton and Rochdale will join the already relegated Swindon, and Bristol Rovers.
Can you give us your match prediction?
1-0 to Fleetwood.
