TRASH TALK NORTHAMPTON TOWN – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

TRASH TALK NORTHAMPTON TOWN

Once again, it’s your weekly helping of Trash Talk and many thanks to Cobblers fan 58-year-old Andy Roberts for helping us out with the answers to the questions. Two things spring to mind from his responses, check out his comments regarding the Northampton compensation policy to season ticket holders, and I wonder if you can spot the other one, we are not going to mention it, and he didn’t either if you get my drift.

Anyway, once again many thanks to Andy, and despite your prediction of relegation for the Cobblers, I for one hope you beat the drop, always love a day out at the Cobblers for the cracking atmosphere between the rival groups of fans, a quality awayday.

We are now well into the season, has it gone about how you thought it would for your club this season so far?

Yes, pretty much, we sneaked into League One via the play-offs and then lost the backbone of the side that won us promotion. With a weaker side at a higher level, it was always going to be a season of struggle.

Where do you think your club will finish up in the league this season?

I fear we will be relegated if we don’t strengthen adequately in the right areas during January. Anywhere above the dotted line will be a bonus.

What has been your best result this season, and of course your worst?

Our best result was probably the 3-1 win at Burton, where we had the right game plan to defeat a fellow struggling side. Our worst result was undoubtedly the FA Cup first round defeat at Oxford City, where neither the manager or the players seemed that bothered about the performance or even the result, a 1-2 defeat.

Do you think your club has acted well towards the fans in terms of compensation, offers and discounts for season ticket holders?

No compensation or discounts have been offered to date and it was only recently that the club communicated its thoughts to season ticket holders directly. The jury is still out on this one.

Which opposition team that you have played has impressed you the most this season?

Probably Michael Appleton’s Lincoln City.

Which player has stood out for your team this season, and which player has come through the ranks and looks a real prospect?

Alan Sheehan, a central defender from Luton, has had a calming organising influence when he has played and he makes us look a better team. Local boy midfield player Shaun McWilliams gives us a bit of steel but is often out with injury.

Which MK Dons player stands out to you as a game changer in our clash?

As we saw recently, you can’t allow the likes of Dean Lewington too much time on the ball. I’ve always liked Cameron Jerome; he can certainly change a game.

What style of play can we expect to see from your team?

Some would say basic, others agricultural. Certainly, one-dimensional and it’s not pretty. I hope the new signings will encourage the manager to get on the front foot and allow the players to express themselves fully.

Have you ever been to Stadium MK, if so, what’s your opinion on it?

Being just down the road from Milton Keynes, Northampton fans tend to have strong views on Milton Keynes, enough said. There is no denying though that Stadium MK is the product of ambition and forward thinking. We have been battling five years to get an extremely basic East Stand completed and we are nowhere near doing so. Again, enough said.

Where do you think the MK Dons will finish in the league table?

Mid-table.

From what you have seen, who are your tips for the league title, promotion, and relegation?

Hull, Portsmouth, Lincoln, Doncaster. Champions probably Hull. Going down Northampton Town, Swindon Town, AFC Wimbledon, and Burton Albion.

Can you give us your match prediction?

MK 2 Northampton 0
