LEAGUE 1 ROUND UP – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

LEAGUE 1 ROUND UP

Whilst the Dons breezed past Wigan there was an almost a full League 1 schedule to report on, the only omission being the cancelled game due to Covid between Swindon Town and Accrington Stanley, the Stanley side and Coaching staff recording an impressive 19 positive test results.

Result of the day must go to bottom club Burton Albion (pictured above) who recorded a 2-2 draw with high flying Peterborough to halt their 5 straight winning run of games. Former Don Jonson Clarke-Harris got Posh rolling after just 10 minutes with Kane Hemmings equalising for Albion with a third on the clock. Joe Ward put Posh back in front a couple of minutes into the second half following up a missed JCH penalty, only for Hemmings once again to draw Albion level. Both teams hit the bar looking for the winner, but the deadlock could not be broken.

Another great result came the way of Rochdale who secured a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland. Twice the Black Cats took the lead through Wyke and Wright, but on both occasions Matty Lund equalised moments later. Dobson for Sunderland hit the bar late on, but that was as close as either team came to claiming all three points.

Our opponents on November 3rd Northampton Town took a spanking from Portsmouth losing 4-0 on the road. That man John Marquis scored two quick fire goals to knock the stuffing out of the Cobblers, with further goals from Curtis and Harness to secure the points.

Bristol Rovers took a 1-0 lead at home to Hull City in just the 2nd minutes, but once Hull composed themselves, they fired in three without reply, Lewis-Potter, Slater, and Eaves scoring the goals.

Plymouth quietly go about their business and leap frogged Doncaster Rovers with a 2-1, Argyle are now up to 8th thanks to goals from Jephcott and Edwards, Okenabirhie with the consolation for Rovers.

Lincoln City remain top with a 1-0 win on the road against Crewe Alex, Harry Anderson scoring the only goal of the game just after the half hour mark.

Fleetwood move up to 10th and push Shrewsbury into the relegation spots, Ched Evans with the only goal of the game.

AFC Wimbledon eased out Blackpool 1-0 with the only goal coming from Callum Reilly but were aided in their victory as Robson and Ballard were both sent off for Pool, both receiving straight red cards.

Ipswich remain in 3rd spot and bombarded Gillingham with 18 shots and 71% possession but could only manage a solitary goal for all their dominance, Teddy Bishop scoring an 86th minute goal to take the points, that’s four straight defeats now for Steve Evans side.

In the final game to come under the spotlight, Charlton despite going down to 10 men with Inniss receiving a red card, recorded a 2-0 win over Robbo’s Oxford United putting them back in the relegation zone in 23rd.

That’s it, see you Saturday.
