LEAGUE 1 ROUND UP – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

LEAGUE 1 ROUND UP

Whilst we were being treated to a horror Dons defensive showing Doncaster were quietly giving Ipswich Town a lesson, strangely both teams who we took points out of and absolutely dominated. Rovers fell behind to a Wright own goal but that was the only backward step they took as they rattled in four with out reply to give the league leaders a right old thumping with goals from John, two from Whiteman, and the final nail in the coffin from Okenabirhie, and is worthy of the result of the day.

Shrewsbury lost at home to Bristol Rovers in the early game with Hanlan scoring the only goal after 15 minutes.

Gillingham who lost to us 2-0 at the weekend suffered the same fate against Portsmouth at the Gills home ground. John Marquis and Michael Jacobs scoring two in a three-minute spell to knock the life out of the Steve Evans side.

Jekyll & Hyde team Accrington continue to throw in results nobody expects, this time beating Fleetwood Town 1-0, Charles scoring the only goal that send Stanley to the nosed bleed inducing heights of 7th.

Our victims, sorry opponents on Saturday Blackpool lost again, this time at home to our sister club Charlton. Pool weren’t helped with a sending off for James Husband after just 2 minutes, but the sides were level in the first half when Ben Purrington was sent to the showers for a second yellow card, Chuks Aneke grabbed the winner with minutes left on the clock to keep Blackpool in the bottom four.

AFC conceded yet another goal in injury time, this time in the first half by Lewis-Potter to send victors Hull City to the top of the table, AFC continue to slip down the table after a good start to the season.

Early league leaders Lincoln jumped back up to third place with a 2-0 home win against Plymouth, Jorge Grant, and Brennan Johnson with the goals.

Sunderland got a 1-0 win at home to Crewe with the goal coming in injury time in the first half, with conflicting reports on who the scorer was, with the clever money being on an own goal.

Wigan suffered a third consecutive defeat in the league this time at the hands of Peterborough who recorded their 4th consecutive win, former Dons player Johnson Clarke-Harris scoring the only goal of the game.

Rochdale scored a 1-0 away win at Burton to take them out of the bottom four and relegate Burton to the basement position, the goal coming from Matty Lund.

Northampton ended their  4 game losing run with a 2-1 win over Swindon Town, Missilou scoring early for the Cobblers, Rose made it 2-0 on the half hour, Tyler Smith one of three Smiths playing for Swindon scored a consolation from the spot.
