Notice of EGM – MKDSA Committee Vacancies

Dear MKDSA Member,

As Acting Secretary, I am writing to confirm receipt of a motion proposed by Amanda Lansbury, seconded by 20 members, calling for an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). This motion, received on 14th February 2025, follows the resignation of three key committee members, leaving the MKDSA unable to meet its quorum requirements (per section 6.3 of our constitution).

To resolve this, we must either elect a new Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer or dissolve the MKDSA.

This email serves as official notice that the EGM will take place on Monday 10^th March 2025 at 6:30pm in the Analysis meeting room at the DoubleTree Hotel, Stadium MK.

Members interested in standing for a position should refer to section 6.11 of the MKDSA constitution (Link to MKDSA Constitution) and submit nominations with statements to me via secretarymkdsa@gmail.com before midnight on Friday 28th February 2025.

EGM Motion

“Due to recent MKDSA committee resignations and elected members not wishing to fill the current vacancies the MKDSA finds itself in a position where it cannot comply with point 6.3 of the constitution.

Therefore this EGM has been called to adopt the following resolutions:

1. To deviate from 6.8 of the constitution to allow members to stand for election at this EGM.
2. To fill the currently vacant management positions of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. This will have been carried out via the normal AGM election procedure with candidates being asked to comply with 6.11 of the constitution. The advert for these will be posted at the same time as the EGM notice and voting will be conducted at the EGM. For the purpose of this election EGM replaces AGM in 6.11.
3. If the positions are left unfilled the MKDSA cannot function therefore Dissolution of the MKDSA (section 10 of the constitution) will be invoked which requires at least two-thirds of those present and eligible to vote must vote in favour.”
   We hope to see as many members as possible on the night for this important EGM.
