Sue Price

It is with great sadness that we receive the news that longstanding Dons’ fan Sue Price has died. This news is all the more tragic as it comes less than two months after the death of her daughter Sarah, another well-known and well-loved, long-time member of the Dons family.

Our Disability Officers, Jo & Jeff have particularly fond memories of Sue and Sarah, as the 4 of them considered themselves the minibus gang, as from when the Dons introduced an accessible minibus as part of their away travel in 2010, they travelled together to all the away games, generally causing chaos around the country! This is Jo & Jeff’s memories of these very happy times that they shared.

We affectionally referred to Sue as our “rottweiler”. We are sure that is how the parking attendant at Swindon remembers her! Sue, like many parents of disabled children, had learnt quickly to challenge those who she thought were not acting fairly and this was often evident on our travels. We will never forget her response, when we found ourselves isolated at the home end at Brentford and experiencing difficulties, “Don’t call me a f****** womble!” Whilst perhaps not the most constructive at the time, we have laughed about it so often and those who know Sue will just well be able to imagine the situation.

Overwhelmingly, we will remember Sue for her kindness that knew no bounds. She went to away games with enough food to feed everyone and tried her best to feed everyone else before herself. Our last conversation with Sue was when she gave us flowers at the Salford game, as a thank you for our kindness to her and Sarah. We thought it should be us giving her flowers.

If we had to pick Sue’s best moment at an away game, the one we always teased her about, it is when she over-dosed on a bare-chested George Baldock at Swindon when he celebrated his hat trick, she never really shut up about it!

RIP Sue with Sarah, both much missed and fondly remembered. The MKDSA send their heartfelt condolences to Sue’s husband Barry, all the couple’s children and their families for whom this is a particularly difficult time.
