The Dons doing Dons Deadline Day Dons things.
We did a tidy bit of business earlier on Deadline Day by capturing Joe Tomlinson from Peterborough. The attack minded player joined on the usual undisclosed fee. This signing seemed to cover off a few positions as Joe is able cover in defence and do his bit going forward.
Our main target was always a striker. Just when many thought any new business had gone by wayside, but the Dons pulled a feint and caught a net full of fish (the signing wasn’t announced until after 11pm by mkdons.com) and people bit when admin said goodnight with only Tommo through the door.
Then in came Ellis Harrison signed from Port Vale on another undisclosed fee. The Welshman scored 11 times in 35 appearances last season in League One and should take the number nine shirt, we reckon.
Oh. But it didn’t stop there. At 1130pm, the Dons then announced the loan signing of Anthony Stewart until the end of the season. Now, this one takes a little bit of head scratching. We seem to be bolstering our options in defence. Stewart, as we know, has a wealth of experience, and at League Two level, he can really help us. Can he stay injury free is the big concern. We can’t afford passengers. We need providers, so our hope is that it’s a lot better second time around for Anthony at StadiumMK.
Welcome to Milton Keynes Joe, Ellis, and Anthony.
All in all, it was a decent window when it seemed we were chasing shadows and were never going to bring enough bodies in.
Over to you, Graham …
