The Dons disappoint in dismal showing in Sussex.
Alexander’s Army surrendered the top spot in a lacklustre performance that in the cold light of tomorrow morning will hopefully leave some massive questions being asked about additional funds being spent rather rapidly.
We started the same eleven for the third league game in a row, and yes, you could expect it with two wins out of two, but come on let’s be serious here. We only really have twelve in contention with this squad.
In the three league games, we’ve used 15 different players, one sub player three times, a kid twice, and two for the first time this season tonight.
For me, they were quicker, busier, and more precise with their passing. They passed and moved around us, through us, and past us almost at will.
Their first goal was a decent strike, not many would have stopped it. But it was ours to gift them and we obliged.
Not quite how their keeper contrived to let Mo score, but we’re happy for a while that he did.
The longer it went on, the less we became a footballing side, with any resemblance to a passing outfit ticking away like the time on the clock.
There was too much reliance on the long ball than the passing game we call the MK Way, perhaps we now need to change the definition?
You have two options with the long ball it’s either into the path of a fleet-footed pacey striker or to a big man who can hold it or flick it on. We have the pace, but too often it doesn’t find the space or the path of our two upfront. It’s a percentage game and we are way down on accuracy and pass completion.
Our next problem is getting the ball back and then keeping it long enough to turn it into possession that can give us chances.
Our keeper was way busier than theirs we didn’t look like getting anything out of tonight.
We’re on the road again Saturday, and we travel to Colchester, who have failed to win both of their games played. Let’s not read too much into that, though, eh?
Fans Forum tomorrow night. Wonder if anyone has any questions?
