The Baton of Hope is an organisation set up to raise awareness and prevention of suicide. Suicide is the biggest reason for death, particularly in men aged 16 to 35.
This was brought close to home for Dons fans when we lost one of our own, Harry Wilmin.
We never truly know how most people are feeling, the strains and pressures they feel they are under in aspects of their work or private lives, until sometimes it’s too late. It’s a dark and lonely place when people feel that there is no alternative to taking their life.
The Baton of Hope Tour started in Glasgow today and will work its way around the country reaching Milton Keynes on July 4th.
Harry’s dad, Roger, will be carrying the baton on its visit to MK in Harry’s memory.
We’d like to support Roger in his efforts to use Harry’s passing to try to prevent other young people and their families experiencing the loss he now feels.
There is always hope and people to talk to who can help you. It’s not interfering or being nosey. It’s support.
