After five years out of the Football League Notts County have made it back by beating Chesterfield at Wembley.
Chesterfield scored a penalty after 5 mins, and it looked up until the 87th minute that it was going to be enough, but Bostock equalised. Almost as extra time began, the Spirites restored their lead through Dobra. The Pies never know when they are beaten, and in the second half of extra time, they pulled level again with Rodrigues driving one into the ground and looping over the stranded keeper. Extra time finished 2-2 so it went to penalties.
Notts County won 4-3 on penalties to return to the Football League and sets up a potential meeting with former Dons trio Luke Williams, Aden Baldwin and Adam Chicksen.
Congratulations to the Pies, we look forward to visiting Meadow Lane next season. Wonder if it’ll be on Boxing Day for the third time?
