We’d like to congratulate the MK Dons FC, MK Dons SET and all the other groups from the community, including families directly affected, who worked together to deliver a unique project that took place in December 2022.
The MKDSA were fortunate to be at the unveiling of the Knife Angel at StadiumMK and captured the image above of the people who initiated the project.
The Knife Angel was born out of the rising knife crime rate that was plaguing not only Milton Keynes but the country. It came from the misery and wasted lives that result when knives are used. A stand was needed and it was taken.
In the month the Angel stood outside it was visited by football fans and shoppers alike who took the opportunity to not only remember those lives taken but to think about those who now had someone no longer in their lives.
MK Dons won the EFL League One Community Project Award and now await to see if they have won the EFL Overall Award later this month.
We sincerely hope we never need another project like this in our city.
