MK Dons Women are Berks & Bucks County Cup Champions after a well fought battle against Abingdon United who were superb in the second half. Here’s the key points from the final;

Match Report – Minutes

1’ – MK Dons get the County Cup final underway.

9’ – Slow start from both sides so far but the Dons are the first team to record the first corner of the game.

10’ – Short corner taken by MK falls to Kerry Newman just outside the box who tested Cox in goal but her effort is comfortably claimed by the shotstopper.

15’ – Dons work the ball down the left to 18, who looks to put the ball into the box early but her cross evades everyone and trickles behind for a goalkick.

18’ – Amy Pipe of Abingdon finds herself in some space down the left who takes a shot from the left corner of the box, but Samson comfortably claims.

23’ GOAL for MK Dons – 1-0 – Angelina Nixon played a superb ball from midfield over to the left where Puddick was occupying who powered down the left side. She was 1 on 1 with Cox who shot from close range but Cox done well to clear away however Laura Mitchell was on point to dance around a challenge and tap home to put the Dons in front. goalscorer

27’ – Dons getting a really grip of the tie now with Nixon having shot on target but for claimed by Cox to

29’ – Mitchell was played in behind but the ball just evades her and Cox was quickly out to snuff out the danger.

32’ – Set piece for MK Dons and Tricia Gould stepped up from 25 yards but her effort rattled the crossbar!

37’ – Osbourne- Ricketts has a free kick 30 yards centre of goal, she tries her luck but Samson gratefully plucks the ball out of the air.

43’ – Dons break forward once again and Coupar has the ball bounce perfectly in feont of her, she hits a half volley towards goal but the ball loops just over the crossbar.

45’ – HALF TIME – MK Dons WFC 1-0 Abingdon Utd WFC

46’ – Abingdon get the second half underway at the Meadow.

46’ – Immediately, Dons have the ball in the box and after a mad scramble on the edge of the 6, the linesman put his flag up for an offside offence.

47’ – Goalscorer Mitchell receives the ball out wide who puts in a fierce cross to Coupar in the box but the ball fizzes past her outstretched leg and goes out for a throw in.

54’ – Gemma Biggadike has an effort on goal from distance but Cox was equal to the task and claimed.

56’ – Tricia Gould tees up a shot from the edge of the box, but the ball flies past the left hand upright.

60’ – Yellow card for Amy Chivers – Abingdon United.

62’ – MK Dons Sub – Reanne Rush on for Tricia Gould.

65’ – Amy Pipe is through on goal for Abingdon, 1 on 1 with Samson, Pipe rounds the Dons captain but loses her footing slightly, shoots at goal but the ball somehow ends up going wide. Massive opportunity squandered.

66’ – Yellow card for Osbourne-Ricketts – Abingdon United.

70’ – Abingdon growing in confidence as the minutes tick down. Frustration slowly creeping in for the Dons as they can’t quite break down the stern Abingdon defence.

76’ – GOAL for MK Dons – 2-0 – Laura Mitchell gets her second of the game as a corner ball loops over the stranded Cox for the aforementioned to bundle into an empty net and double the Dons lead.

80’ – Abingdon United Sub – Beth Chapman on for Amy Pipe

82’ – Yet another scramble in the Abingdon box as Hannah Warren has 2 close range efforts blocked and the keeper left scrambling on the ground, the defence clear the danger away to prevent the Dons extending their advantage.

84’ – Nicola puddick off for Rennai Bennett.

87’ – GOAL for MK Dons – 3-0 – Mollie Coupar gets herself on the scoresheet after being played in by Laura Mitchell who makes no mistake from 12 yards out.

87’ – Abingdon United – Lauren May replaced by Maisie Hastings

89’ – MK Dons sub – Hannah Samuels off for Hannah Davies.

90’ – 3 minutes added time.

90+1’ – Abingdon United sub – Molly Lego off for Millie Hume.

90+3’ – Angelina Nixon has a chance with theblast kick of the game down the left but Cox done superbly well to turn behind.
