First Impressions of the stadium, parking, ease of entry. 8The University of Bolton Stadium is now 25 years old but still an impressive sight. The ground is all seated and has a capacity of 28,723. Those of us travelling by road experienced the usual woes of the M6 resulting in many diverting through Eccles to avoid congestion. The coach and mini bus parked at the ground, a short distance from the entrance for away supporters. There is car parking available at the ground.
Food & Drink, range, quality, price. 7The usual range of hot food, snacks & drinks were available: pies, hot dogs, cheeseburgers. Alcohol was on sale. Prices were higher than expected but there were some meal deals available.
View from your seat, any poles in the way, obstructed view, seat broken? 7We were again located in the upper tier of the Franking Sense South Stand which gives an unobstructed view of the pitch behind goal. Access is via several flights of stairs and the stand is quite steep. Wheelchair users were located pitch side at the front of the same stand so there was no opportunity for them to interact with their fellow supporters above.
Home team support, was it a library, good banter between the fans? 6The attendance for this fixture was 16,634. There was a group of home fans in the stand to our right who had a drum and made the most noise. Saying that there was a lack of atmosphere from the home support who only made some noise when they scored.
What were the stewards like, helpful and friendly or jobsworths? 7The stewards were friendly and there were no issues.
Toilet facilities, clean and well equipped with hot water, disgusting. 8The toilets were clean and well kept. No hot water. Free sanitary products in the ladies.
Ticket pricing, did the price reflect the facilities of the ground? 7£21 for an adult is the same price as last season.
Ground facilities, half time service, did they let fans outside at halftime? 5There was no half-time entertainment. Fans weren’t allowed out to smoke at half time and consequently it was quite smokey in the gents.
Match atmosphere, did the Dons fans give good support? 6There were 177 Dons fans present who did their best to make some noise but their enthusiasm ebbed as the game progressed. This time we were given permission to take the drum but it didn’t travel.
Ease of exit, did the carpark clear quickly, traffic around the stadium? 7The car park was very busy as vehicles battled to leave which caused problems for our fans with disabilities as they tried to make their way back to the minibus. Once aboard our exit was quite swift.
