In Wednesday’s committee meeting the attendees discussed who was to take over the helm following Aiden’s surprise departure on 15th December.

As per the MKDSA constitution a new Chair was required to be elected at the January committee meeting from within the existing elected members. It fell to Acting Chair, Franco Volpe, to convene the meeting and ask the committee to make the decision to select the person that would take the committee to the AGM later this year.

Franco said that he would like to be considered, as he stepped in and because the committee had made the three weeks he was Acting Chair a smooth and enjoyable experience that he was keen to continue. “I am grateful to the committee for having my back as i took on the duties of Chair in the short term.” “I’d like to thank Aiden Gray for his leadership” He has been fantastic during the handover and has brought the Association and the Club closer together and he made great progress in delivering the best outcome possible for Lewington’s Bar.” “He will be remembered for his hard work and ability to find solutions”

The committee voted unanimously to confirm Franco as the new Chair.

The committee then needed a new Vice Chair. Amanda Lansbury, the current Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer asked to be selected and with another unanimous vote she was elected. Amanda said “I am looking forward to working with Franco and the rest of the committee serving our members. I will continue to serve as EDI officer, as the constitution allows and hope I can help build the Association and represent all supporters of the club.”

Franco, speaking about his new Vice Chair, said “Amanda is an inspiration to us all. She is a breath of fresh air, positive and so determined to succeed.” “We have already begun to plan a number of key events and have a few projects in mind to make 2023, our 20th Anniversary a special year”
