Home of the Pilgrims since 1901 it is the 17,900 all seated Home Park (SAT NAV – PL2 3DQ) and is our longest round trip of some 454 miles.
We will be, once again, in the Barn Park End and is part of the new stand area, the views are unobstructed and excellent, although the stewarding can be a tad overzealous at times. Home fans seem to be friendly and appreciative of away day fans making the effort.
Pubs of choice seem to be the Wetherspoons Britannia, the doors are controlled by bouncers so you may have to wait to get in, also they do not tolerate away fans singing, one peep and you’re out the door, but a visit here is well worth it, if not just for the pasty wagon nearby.
Avoid the Embassy Club at all costs, away fans are less than welcome, but you could always try the Hyde Park Social Club some 15 minutes from the ground, plenty of different ales and lagers on sale, plus hearty cooked breakfasts.
Parking is free at the ground, but it does fill up quickly, so do not be late. Just a word to the wise clearance of the carpark is done on a first in, first out basis, so if you are late, it could take half an hour to get out.
For those getting the train to take the strain, the station is about a mile and a half away, so it is a 20- minute walk or a taxi.
