Trash Talk Portsmouth The League One Edition

By Aiden Gray

Aiden interviews his son Max, a Pompey fan. Its complicated. This is a real family affair enjoy reading it. Hopefully Aiden gets bragging rights this time around ….

Are you content with Portsmouth start to the season?
The first nine league games we looked brilliant, and a lot of the supporters were becoming hopeful that Pompey could continue like that, however since the Ipswich game in the league, we seem to have lost our form and can’t seem to get it back.

Are you happy with what you have seen so far under Danny Cowley?
The Cowley’s get a lot of heat from some fans and the media, but I think the vast majority of the supporters see that things a lot of things are slowly improving and we just need to back them & get behind Danny to push on.

Which players do you expect to cause problems for the Dons on Saturday?
Jay Mingi. He has really started to show his true potential. With our main midfielders going out with injuries, it opened up a spot for Jay, and ever since he got his opportunity, he has been a threat.

Are you happy with Pompey’s transfer activity from the summer and which signings have impressed you the most so far?
I am fairly happy, in particular with the signings of Marlon Pack, Joe Rafferty and Josh Oluwayemi. For me though, the signing that has shown the most impact is definitely Marlon Pack, who is bossing the midfield for Pompey.

Who or What made you support Pompey, and what’s your highlight so far following Portsmouth?
Just growing up in Portsmouth and seeing the way it brings the city together is a really beautiful thing, the city has always been very unique in that way.
As for highlight so far, my favourite memory of my time following Pompey is either promotion from league 2 or the Checkatrade trophy final at Wembley.

What style of play can we expect to see from Portsmouth on Saturday?
We have recently changed system as a result of a fair few impactful players being out with injuries (Joe Rafferty, Tom Lowery, Louis Thompson) and are play 3-4-3, so I would expect this to be the same this weekend.

If you could have any Dons player, who would it be?
For me I would definitely take either Mo Eisa or Will Grigg as they are definitely players with real quality when given the service & I like the way they both play.

Colby Bishop. A thorn in MK Dons side every season and someone we allegedly were interested in the summer. Has he exceeded expectations so far this season?
Colby bishop is definitely a top player for Pompey. For me I think he has definitely made an impact but I think he could grow so much more as a player, and hopefully we get to see that over the rest of this season.

Which Portsmouth game are you most looking forward to this season?
I think definitely Tottenham Hotspur (Sorry about that) in the FA Cup third round but in the league, for me a really good game will be Derby away.

What was your thoughts on MK Dons in our recent FA Cup encounter this season and were you surprised?
To be honest I was surprised. We normally don’t do too well against the Dons even when we are on form. I felt that the Dons were just very unlucky to give away the two penalties, and if it wasn’t for that, I think it could have been a different story for Pompey.

The Dons have had a poor start to the season considering the highs that were achieved last season, where do you think the Dons will finish in League One this year?
The Dons have been unlucky with the way the season has started for you, especially considering the highs of last season with almost gaining promotion. I think in January if everything goes smoothly & you can pull a few quality signings in, they can definitely make a comeback and possibly get mid table.

Are there any weaknesses in the squad you would like addressed in January?
Our defence definitely needs addressing in January and maybe some different options up front too.

Thank you for participating, it really helps us get a stronger understanding of the opposition! Finally, what do you think the score will be?
I think it will be a very tough game, as both teams like to play good football, with Manning now gone that could also fire the players up for this one, but my gut tells me it will be a 2-1 Pompey.

Cheers Max appreciate the answers
