PJT Knock Out Stages

By The MKDSA Media Team

The MK Dons finished top of the Southern Group C ahead of Cheltenham Town, the side that beat us in the opening group game at StadiumMK, on goal difference.

Finishing top of the group ensured the Dons would be drawn at home in the Round of 32. This stage remains a North South thing, after this stage its a draw anyone anywhere type scenrio if we read things correctly (no guarantee there obviously)

The draw cannot be made until the group stages have been completed and Groups A and B are not finished yet. The Final games are played next week so the draw should be soon afterwards.

In the South the games still to play are in Group A as Charlton play Brighton U21s and in Group B with Opposition playing Portsmouth.

The Dons can only be drawn against teams who finished as runners up so currently they could face Peterborough, Bristol Rovers, Newport County, Sutton United or Arsenal U21s with the following sides potentially finishing in second place in Group A Gillingham/Charlton Athletic and in Group B its a bit more complicated as Opposition can finish winners or second, Crawley Town second or third and Portsmouth could finish anywhere but last in the group.

Both these groups are decided this week, tonight Tuesday 1st November it’s Portsmouth v Opposition and tomorrow its Charlton v Brighton U21’s.

Other group winners and therefore unable to face us at this stage are Colchester United, Stevenage, Forest Green Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town and Chelsea U21s.

The Dons cannot face Cheltenham Town as they were in our qualifying group.
