THE MKDSA GROUND GUIDE SHREWSBURY TOWN

The Montgomery Waters Meadow, New Meadow, Greenhous Meadow or whatever it’s called this season was built in 2007 to replace the Gay Meadow Stadium which was their home since 1910. This is one of the best away days in the EFL League 1 and was awarded the MKDSA Donny & Mooie Trophy last season as the best ground for away supporters. A superb Fan Zone is just beyond the away turnstiles that sells hot grub and some decent ales, plus there is very often live music. Its all very friendly as well with fans from both teams exchanging banter…. we can’t recommend it highly enough.

Situated on the outskirts of Shrewsbury close to the A5 (Sat Nav – SY2 6ST) it is a UEFA Cat 4 Stadium with a capacity for 9,875, or 10,210 with temp seating, and is a 114-mile journey from Le Stad MK.
It should be noted that Shrewsbury railway station is 2 miles from the ground, but shuttle busses do run regularly, although it looks like there is a train strike or a very limited service. Parking is limited at the ground; telephone reservations would be recommended. Away fans are in the Pro-Vision CCTC Stand at one end of the ground, leg room is good, and the stands are quite steep keeping the fans close to the action and there is good height between rows.
The concourses are quite well laid out, catering has a selection of pies made by Wright’s, including Steak and Ale, Chicken Balti and a ‘Pie of the Day’ (all £3). There are also Cornish Pasties (£2.50), Cheese and Onion Pasties (£2.50) and Sausage Rolls (£2). Plus, Hot Dogs (£3) and Burgers (£3). Alcohol is also available in the form of plastic bottles of Carling Lager or Cider (Both £3), or Wine (£3). There are also large plasma screens on the concourses showing Sky Sports throughout the afternoon.
It looks like the pub of choice for away fans is the Grove situated on Belle Vue Road, it is about a 20-minute walk from the ground or 1 mile, whichever is quickest.
