REF WATCH OXFORD

By WhistleBlower

Before we take a look at this weekends ref, just a brief word and score on Tuesday night’s official Chris Pollard. I felt he could have been a bit harder on Bolton with one or two incidents deserving a yellow card. Spot on with the penalty, although it would have been hard to argue it was so clearcut, but slightly annoying he fell for some of their antics, so a just above average 6 for Mr Pollard.

On Saturday on the road to Oxford we have Andrew Kitchen which is a new one on me, and he’s from Durham, so just a short trip for him then.

He has taken charge of 8 games so far this season booking 29 players with none being converted to a double yellow. He has sent off just one player during that time and awarded one penalty.

On closer inspection I can see that Mr Kitchen is indeed no stranger to the Dons taking charge of our away fixture at Doncaster in October 2021, in a game we lost 2-1, at the time we were third, they were bottom. Peter Kioso was our scorer in a match where we had 73% possession.

Last season he took charge on 29 occasions handing out just 69 yellows, 1 double yellow, 1 red card and awarded 3 penalties.

This is just his second season in the EFL having progressed through the National League Fast Track Programme.

On Saturday he will be assisted by Leigh Crowhurst and Dean Treleaven who suspiciously sounds Cornish, Michael Chard will be the 4th Official.
