DONS 0 BOLTON 2 – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

DONS 0 BOLTON 2

Many thanks to Alfie for tonight’s match report on all the action from tonight’s defeat against Bolton at Stadium MK…. sorry Alfie for making you watch it.

Team Line-ups:

The Dons; Cumming, Tucker, O’Hora, Smith, Grigg, Oyegoke, Johnson, Harvie, Devoy, Dennis, Jules

Bolton; Trafford, Jones, Williams, Almeida Santos, Johnston, Charles, Iredale, Lee, Bradley, Kachunga, Thomason

A minute of silence for Her late Majesty followed by the National Anthem is observed wonderfully by a standing Stadium MK.

1’ Bolton get us underway here under the lights at Stadium MK!

3’ Dons have had most of the ball early on here but haven’t threatened the Bolton goal yet.

5’ Zak Jules does excellent to use his strength against his man. The ball is played to Dawson Devoy who plays a sublime ball through to Grigg who plays it on to Dennis who is judged to be offside.

7’ Penalty appeals are waved away by the referee as Elias Kachunga goes down under pressure. A decent start from both sides early on here.

9’ Bolton have a corner after Zak Jules’ last ditch tackle is perfectly timed on the right-hand side. The corner goes straight to a Dons player, but the following pass is hit straight out of play.

12’ Bolton are looking the stronger of the two sides now and are beginning to look more and more threatening by the minute. However, the Dons are doing well to prevent any real chances for Bolton.

14’ A horrendous decision from the Linesman almost leads to a goal for the visitors as they break away down the right-hand side. A low ball in finds a Bolton body but Tucker does well to block the striker.

17’ An excellent save from Cumming who pushes over Thomason’s effort from the right-hand side over the bar. The corner leads to nothing and the Dons can clear their lines.

20’ Matt Dennis picks up a loose ball and breaks away before being hauled down by the defender. The free kick in from Devoy troubles no one in a blue shirt and is collected with ease by Trafford.

23’ Zak Jules does well under pressure from several blue shirts before being fouled.

26’ Free kick on the edge of the box for Bolton after Grigg gives away a cheap foul. The shot is fired low at the wall before being cleared further by Jules.

29’ Penalty for the visitors after a stupid challenge from Devoy who puts in a late challenge. Dion Charles converts and blasts it down the middle. Dons find themselves down a goal.

35’ A few corners and half chances for Bolton since the goal. Sloppy from the Dons since going behind.

38’ Dons playing better now after Grigg beats the offside trap, he lays it off to Dennis whose shot is blocked.

40’ A ball in from the right-hand side almost makes it all the way through but Trafford manages to prevent it going in. The corner is good and is cleared for a second corner which deflects for a third consecutive corner. Matt Smith is open but his volley sails over the top leaving Trafford unthreatened.

HALF-TIME: A poor display from the Dons so far who find themselves a goal down at the break after Dawson Devoy gave away a clumsy penalty after bringing down Gethin Jones needlessly. The Dons find themselves in for an uphill battle in the second half.

45’ No changes at the break as Grigg kicks us off for the second half.

47’ Bolton have been sloppy so far and have given it away carelessly a couple times. Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to pose any threat.

50’ Dons look strong so far having troubled Trafford after a ball is drilled in, but he gets down well to claim the ball.

52’ Another phenomenal save from Jamie Cumming who makes himself big and denies Charles from close range. The ball then is played up to Dennis who breaks away, but Santos goes down and wins a free kick.

58’ Goal Bolton. The visitors double their lead after Gethin Jones’ bullet header cannons in off the bar from a free kick given away by Jack Tucker who was shown a yellow card. A bad day at the office for Liam Manning’s men.

61’ The visitors have the ball in the back of the net, but the Dons are saved by the Linesman’s flag which is raised for offside.

65’ Somehow the visitors haven’t added another after a looping cross falls to Iredale at the back post who’s header hits the bar. Falling apart for the Dons.

66’ Bradley Johnson and Will Grigg make way for Joshua Kayode and Josh McEachran who makes his return from injury.

73’ Kieran Lee is brought off for Kyle Dempsey for the visitors.

75’ Matt Smith comes off for Darragh Burns for the Dons’ third change of the evening. Bolton also look to the bench as Bakayoko replaces Elias Kachunga.

78’ Nothing from either side to talk about in the last few minutes or so. Both teams seem content with the way the game is going.

80’ A cross is whipped in deep. Cumming spills it but is able to pick up before a Bolton player can get to it.

82’ McEachran breaks forward and plays a good ball through to Kayode who misses the ball before slipping over and being in no rush to get back up.

84’ Matt Dennis is now played through by Kayode but can’t be bothered to run on to it.

86’ Dion Charles and George Thomason are replaced by Kieran Sadlier and Aaron Morley for the closing stages.

88’ Minutes later after coming on, Aaron Morley is shown a yellow for bringing down Darragh Burns. The free kick delivery sums up the performance tonight. Truly Shocking.

90’ Bolton break away and look promising but Sadleir’s ball across the face of goal is cleared by O’Hora. We are now into an additional four minutes of added time.

90+3’ Bolton have it in the back of the net, but Sadlier was judged to be offside. Another let off for the Dons.

FULL TIME: Absolutely horrific performance from a lacklustre Dons side who lacked passion tonight. No shots on target even though we had two strikers on the field. Next up we travel to the Kassam to face Oxford.
