Accrington Stanley, who are they? Exactly why you’re here I would presume. Ahead of this Saturday’s clash with Accrington Stanley, we asked supporter Josh some questions regarding the game coming up. Many thanks to the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust for their help to make this happen.
1. Firstly, what are your thoughts on Stanley after the opening few games so far? Positive start with a win and 2 draws from our 3 league games. Impressed at our forward play, although our ‘goals against’ is a little too kind to our opposition currently! We’ve shown good character in twice level games after the 90th minute.
2. Are you happy with your team’s transfer window so far? We’ve added some good additions to bulk out a squad currently plagued by defensive injuries.
3. What style of play can we expect from Accrington Stanley on Saturday? We’ll look to start on the front foot quickly and be dominant in our attacking play. We like to vary our style of play, so could either play it long up to a target man striker or work the ball wide for our creative players.
4. Based on what you have seen so far, where can you see Stanley finishing at the end of the season? Challenging for the Play-Off’s.
5. With the Dons losing key players like Scott Twine and Harry Darling, where do you think the Dons will finish at the end of the season? 18th
6. Which Stanley players can you see causing The Dons problems during the game. Tommy Leigh always looks like he can produce a moment of magic when he’s on the ball, whilst Kody Adedoyin has started the season well and has pace and strength which could cause the Milton Keynes defence some problems.
7. Which Dons player(s) do you think will cause problems for Accy? Louie Barry could stretch our defence with his runs in behind, so he will be one we need to watch out for.
8. Which game are you most looking forward to this season? Derby away on New Year’s Day should be a cracker!
9. Who or what made you support Accrington Stanley? My dad is a Norwich City fan, my Uncle is a Leeds United fan, and my Grandad is a Blackburn Rovers fan! I didn’t want to show any favouritism towards any of them – I liked Stanley’s kit and used to play with them a lot on the FIFA video game – so Stanley it was!
10. Who can you see winning promotion to the Championship this season? Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough, and Derby County
11. What are your thoughts on Stadium MK? Nice looking ground with good facilities and comfy seats, if not a little too big for MK Dons with little atmosphere from the home support on previous visits.
12. What was your favourite game of all time following Accrington Stanley? Too many to mention! Although beating local rival Burnley with a 120th minute extra time winner at home will be up there!
13. Thanks for participating. Finally, what do you think the score will be? MK Dons 1 – 2 Stanley
Once again, we’d like to say thanks to Josh and the Official Accrington Stanley supporters trust for being able to make this happen. Best of luck for the season ahead, guys!
