REF WATCH WYCOMBE PLAYOFFS 1st LEG

Big Match…Big Ref…. well roughly speaking as the guy in charge is more used to reffing Championship fixtures. I guess we shouldn’t be shocked either as the man in charge Darren Bond is from Lancashire, nice short journey for him then….cough.

It’s been a long, long time since our paths have crossed, in fact 2015 when we drew 1-1 away to Bristol City in the Championship, but can you guess who scored…. more in a bit.

So far this season he has reffed 16 games spending the remainder of his time as a Referees Assistant in Premierships games. During the time he has been in the middle he has dished out 58 yellow cards, upgrading just one of those to a double yellow offence, he hasn’t sent anyone off, but he has awarded 4 penalties.

On Thursday he will be assisted by Richard Wild & Nick Greenhalgh on the flags, John Busby is the 4th Official, and get this, we have a Reserve Assistant Referee Robert Hyde.

Right back to that question, who scored……well we went behind in the 6th minute after Anthony Kay was disposed in midfield and City raced away and scored through Reid. We were under huge pressure for the majority of the first half and did well to go in just one down. We grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the 2nd half and were unlucky not to snatch an equaliser, but deep into injury time Daniel Powell picked the ball midway in the City half, ran at the defence, and unleashed a superb finish in the corner of the net to share the spoils.

Did you get it ?
