REF WATCH CREWE ALEX

A re-arranged fixture is next up at Stadium MK against struggling Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night with a vital three points up for grabs for both sides.

Last time round we took Crewe to the cleaners at their place winning 4-1 with goals from Mo Eisa, Matt O’Riley, Max Watters, and a Peter Kioso shot that was deflected into the net by an Alex defender, and we even had the luxury of Mo Eisa missing a penalty after being brought down in the box by the Alex keeper. This game was also notable for the amazing support by the travelling MK Army and was possibly the start of the belief that something big was on the cards this season.

In charge will be referee Ross Joyce from Cleveland, so once again another common-sense appointment meaning a round trip of over 400 miles for Mr Joyce.

The last time we saw him officiating one of our games was back in March 2021 when we beat Burton Albion 2-1 at the Pirelli Stadium. That day Scott Fraser scored against his old club from the spot in the 15th minute after a handball decision. On the hour Warren O’Hora doubled our lead with a header, but we were left with a nervy 15 minutes after Ethan Laird upended a Burton striker in the box, Lucas Akins scoring from the spot.

Mr Joyce has reffed 28 games this season booking 85 players, 2 of which he converted to double yellow offences. In addition, he has dished out 3 straight red cards and awarded 6 penalties.

Assisting Mr Joyce will be Sam Ogles and Greg Read on the flags with Declan Bourne taking on the 4th Official duties.
